I love working with kids and apply my background in Expressive Arts Therapy with children to connect with them on an authentic, real level through the creative arts. In addition to accepting kids in private practice, I work as a School Counselor at St. Paul's School in Richmond, California with children TK - 8th grade. Prior to St. Paul's, I worked as a School Counselor at Life Academy in Oakland with 4th - 6th graders. I have a large breadth of experience providing therapy for kids and widely use Play Therapy in my work. I'm devoted to counseling kids around depression and trauma.
Depression Does your child experience frequent crying spells? Perhaps your child is prone to excessive worry, fear of making friends or angry outbursts. If so, it's possible your child is suffering from clinical depression, often misread as standard emotional changes that occur during childhood development. In my work with kids who suffer from depression, I weave empirically based methodologies such as CBT with Expressive Arts Therapy and Play Therapy.
Trauma After a traumatic event has been experienced, a child often suffers from hypervigilance, nightmares, lack of concentration at school, and problems with sleeping and eating. In these difficult times, kids deserve the utmost care and attention to their emotional well-being and mental health. In my work with children who have experienced some form of trauma, I employ Narrative Therapy and Play Therapy.
