This weekend I went to a transformative workshop at the Nexus Center that involved setting intention, meditation, and sound healing. I was deeply impacted by the overall experience and found that the sound bath unlocked certain emotional blocks that lived in my body; it was nothing short of a profound experience.
The workshop focused on clearing any inherited emotional entanglement from our ancestors such as depression, anxiety, and trauma. The shamanic sound bath opened up lines of communication in meditation with ancestors and allowed for our unconscious minds to connect with our true self.
Sound a little "woo woo"? Well, I thought so too but then I reflected what is often considered "woo woo" are indigenous practices that have been co-opted by white people.
What ancient wisdom and native peoples have known for eons regarding sound healing is now being researched in the fields of biophysics and neuroscience. Sound has been proven to impact how the brain absorbs information, sleep patterns, and affects mood. In fact, specific frequencies of sound have been shown to generate neurotransmitters like serotonin.
